Being aware heals…freed from the prison of thinking.

Awareness is not thinking

Now, today I will focus on a statement by Fritz Perls: “Being aware heals” and I can confirm this from my own experiences. All kinds of vague physical complaints have disappeared over time by giving space and becoming aware of my feelings in daily life.

Paying attention to feeling in my own body, finding words that fit and then being able to place them in the context of being in the “here and now”.

Do you also know the feeling of “I am not doing well”? I do not measure up? You should meet the expectations of others, society, etc. And then the fat sausage that is held in front of you and that you hopelessly keep running after in the hope that you will be rewarded.

Change expectations into appreciations and you can enjoy yourself again and no longer put each other in prison of the thinking expectations that you or the other should meet.

You can become free again from feeling alone, depression, gloom, bi-polar reactions, physical or psychological complaints, feeling unwell, conflicting thoughts, feelings of hatred, tension, obsessive or anxious thoughts, feeling like a failure, feeling of not doing it right, the pain of feeling criticized. Suppose you can take matters into your own hands again and discover how you can be the master(ess) of your own well-being again.

The Gestalt-phenomenological approach is awareness, excitement, and involvement (responsibility and contact) in the moment of the here and now moment of being.

Predetermined moral standards (perfectionist ideals, “how it should be”) are a limiting value of perceptions. Often you are separated from your direct experience, you are busy looking, judging or arranging the situation and that prevents your full involvement in life now. These normal patterns in consciousness can lead to compulsive patterns. As long as these patterns remain habits, and therefore outside of immediate awareness, the resulting chain of the same reactions and behavior will continue to repeat itself.

When you can become aware of your habits or a fixed reaction in acceptance, you can start to take up space and choose. All situations then become new possibilities and a greater freedom of choice. The blockage, confusion and fragmentation of automatic reaction patterns provide ways to return to an awakened state of being: conscious, spontaneous, and an open mind for every new situation.
